The Alamo Placita Historic District is an older neighborhood developed between 1889 and 1942 with houses reflecting several different important architectural styles.  It’s anchored by Alamo Placita Park.

The Five Points neighborhood lies northeast of city center.  An intersection of five major streets is the origin of the name.  This neighborhood was prominent in the 1860’s as “Harlem of the West.” In its heyday during the 1930-50’s it was home to over 50 bars and clubs where stars such as Duke Ellington, Billie Holliday and Miles Davis played.  The African-American heritage is still celebrated in the area today with the Juneteenth festival.  It is the location of the Black American West Museum and Heritage Center as well as the Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library.

Washington Park neighborhood is located in south central Denver.  It carries a registered Historical District designation.  The area has become a desirable urban neighborhood because of the proximity to the park of the same name, as well as its central location and good transportation access.

Lower Downtown or LoDo neighborhood is more a cultural designation than an official one.  It is Denver’s original settlement and contains historic buildings, sites and monuments.  It’s also known in a larger sense as the Union Square neighborhood.  LoDo is an excellent example of successful urban renewal in the United States.

Overall prices for Denver, Co. real estate sold recently have continued to slide.  This is presumed to be at least in part from the continued increase in the number of Denver, Co. homes which have been placed for foreclosure. In addition, Denver new homes have continued to sell.
