Delaware is one of the teeniest states in the entire nation. It does not even cover 2000 square miles of land! Only two other states are smaller; Rhode Island and the District of Columbia. Though it's small in land mass Delaware's population is large for its tiny size beating out some of the larger states of Alaska and Wyoming. Delaware also holds the right as the very first state in the United States of America. Delaware was named to honor the early Virginia governor, Lord De La Warr.
